Michigan Simulation User Group

A not so warm March evening, warm Mexican cuisine combined with a hot topic to made for an excellent membership meeting.  Dr. Jayant Trewn (the presenter) from Beaumont University gave an invigorating talk on integrating the various aspects of process improvement techniques such as Lean, PDCA & Six Sigma.  The 18 attendees comprising a multitude of industry verticals had their intellectual fill on the topic.

Touching on the various aspects of process improvement, he talked of many examples that he had seen through his years of experience.  A detailed example outlined the interactions between cycle time improvement achieved using lean techniques and quality achievements achieved through the six sigma approach.  The overall methodology yields a better & faster ideology to the given operations.

Come questions time, the chance for the audience to talk, interesting questions ranged from applying these techniques in emergency rooms to consulting projectmanagement.

Given the quality of this session, the next session is something to look forward to.  June brings much warmer weather, spicier food and a topic that is just as hot!!
